Perhaps it was just because it was in the shade.
Whatever the reason, this CAT caught my attention mid-run.

My dear friend, Mark sent me this photo today from his boat on Donner Lake in Tahoe. I think he was trying to point out that HE was now on vacation – INSTEAD of me. He’s good about that. Like a brother that likes to rub it in.
Do you see the fishing pole there on the right? It reminds me of the many camping trips we took in my teens. Back then, our family vacations consisted of 2-3 week long camping trips.
Generally, our stents consisted of fishing, water skiing, tubin’, motorcycle riding, and all things camping. My stepfather taught it all to us. There was so much water play that nearly the entire time was spent in my bikini. I think I even wore it on the days where we rode out on the dirt bikes because we always ended up in a creek. Often times, much to my stepfather’s frustration, my motorcycle did too.
Ah…those were the days.

Translation: A Very Happy Birthday with love from Pooh.
It’s hard to believe that it has been a full 3 years since I bid my husband farewell and toss him out to sea. That was on his would-be 50th Birthday so, today, he would have been 53 years old. Like with all the other milestones, I do my best to honor him while doing my best not to bring on sadness simply for sadness’ sake. The “feelings” tend to come regardless and, similar to the anniversary of his death, they have a tendency to peak before the milestone day rather than on the day itself.
For this, his 53rd Birthday, “feelings” of which I cannot exactly describe, began to hit both YaYa and me on the Birthday Eve. After he fell asleep in the car on the way home, I reclined my seat in the garage and checked out for a bit. It was actually 1 ½ hours before I finally got out of the car and that was only after a text message woke me up. Later that night, YaYa and I lit candles and quietly sang “Happy Birthday.” Then, I sipped on a glass of wine while YaYa curled up beside me in bed. The candles stayed lit until midnight when I was finally satisfied that they were being blown out ON his day rather than the night before. Like it really matters.

Recently, a friend fell ill with a bad case of the crud. Worried that I’d get sick, I was urged to stay away. Yet the nurse inside me wanted to help – badly. After all, providing TLC is right up my alley.
Although I have no magic remedy to speed the recovery process, being able to do something (anything) somehow feels like the perfect medicine. Call it “placebo effect,” I don’t care. I just want to help.
If by chance, I do get sick, well then perhaps they can return the favor.
