A bit of ankle pain has given me cause for pause before each of my activities. I move forward with caution but do partake in my chosen activities.
Today, it was cycling to work that came into question. I proceed forward with apprehension. Once on the road, apprehension quickly turned into enthusiasm.
I’m really enjoying my rides in to the office. Even more enjoyment comes from the rides home. I take the long way to change it up, get some hill work, and benefit from the widespread bike lanes along the route.
Unfortunately, today’s arrival was met with the reminder that we have a scheduled off-site team building exercise. I hemmed and hawed about loading my bike into a colleague’s car and hitching a ride because I really wanted to ride my bike home. Then, the option of riding home a lunch came to mind. It would take up more than my lunch break make to journey but seemed to be nothing short of genius. Since I did arrive an hour earlier than usual, I went for it.
I’d planned to hit the road early and miss a bit of the lunch rush but a particularly talkative colleague who is ever-passionate about her expression of issues followed me around in puppy dog fashion as I tried to make my departure. *sigh*
I hit the road smack dab at noon and, as expected, met roads which were crazy busy. But I made the best of it. En route, I dropped my chain, hit most of the red lights, and arrived at home to find the door from garage to house LOCKED. But it was all good. I thoroughly enjoyed the ride.
The hardest part was returning to the office to finish out my work day. A 5-day weekend is within reach…and I can’t wait!
