just saying
There are sayings that come out in times of difficulty. Things people say to offer up comfort. Pretty much, they all are a bunch of bologna.
While “he’s in a better place” might comfort some, it never did a thing for me – aside from bring on a rush of anger. Of the 5 in my grief support group, none of us were comforted by this saying.
Then there is the saying offering that God wouldn’t give you more than you could handle. Yeah, whatever. Even if it is true, where’s the comfort in that. Is this all to say that if you drop your coping ability nothing bad will happen to you?
Finally, there is the saying that “things happen for a reason.” This statement may give some hope but for me, uh, not so much. On the other hand, if you were to tell me that saying in something as worrisome but correctable as receiving an insufficient funds notification, then…okay, it may have some meaning. It may be saying, “Get a clue Julie. After spending $10K on a new roof, you need budget.”
Argh! Thank God I’ve got funds in another account.
Like water off a ducks back
Look who’s back in to town
Tonight, my little family made our way to the airport to pick up my not-so-young man-cub. Text messages were going back and forth as we approached the airport thanks to the delayed flight coming in on time. “I’m wearing a sweater and blue shorts.” he reports from the curbside mob, “Door 3.” YaYa writes back, “Look for the blue car with the big black dog.”
My eyes sift through the mob of travelers as we come around the corner. Finally, I eye a talk, dark, and handsome young man. It’s my son, my man-cub, my BoBo — all grown up.
Oops!
I have no new photo of the day to post.
This photo was taken during this past Saturday’s step-back run. After we got over the initial shock of noting our matching outfits (this was NOT planned), Mark and I got a big laugh out of watching the reaction of everyone we passed. I really don’t think we could have gotten this matchy if we had planned it. Seriously! We look like a pair of blueberries, or something like that.
Anyway, check out the reservoir behind us! Thanks to all of the rain we’ve had, there is actually water in it. It sure is beautiful. Mark thinks that although the Department of Forestry & Fire Protection can’t blame a draught for the risk of fires, we will now have the added growth to blame. *sigh*
