I was thrilled to be invited to join Lil Sis and her running friends on Saturday morning for their 10 mile long run. Not only did I get to enjoy great company but I got to see a side of her town that I’d never seen before. I began to feel the effects of the 6 miles I’d run prior to meeting up with them and a lack of Perpetuem. This was all compounded by too much vino the night before. Lil Sis came to my rescue with a few capsules of some unknown substance and stayed back with me. By the time we all finished, I was feeling great.
The weekend fun continued when Big Sis rolled into town. Because there just aren’t hills to be found in Davis (or so she claims), she’s always game for a trial run. I took her out to the trails and got lost.
We ran on and on and on through beautiful hills. It wasn’t until we were 3 miles out, and I still wasn’t seeing the familiar landmarks that my legs started complaining. I walked as I took in a GU and told myself that everything was fine. And we ran on and on… until finally I was confident that we were indeed lost.
On this glorious day, 5 miles quickly became nearly 9. It was wonderful. The only thing that would have made it better was if Lil Sis could have joined us too.

She’s right. There aren’t any hills to be found in Davis.
Except a few highway overpasses. Do those count?
