Seems like it’s been a long time has since my last post. With my last post being less than two weeks ago, it’s not been long at all compared to the blogs I am currently following.
It isn’t that nothing has been happening in my neck of the woods. Nor is it that I have been overwhelmingly busy. I guess it’s just been that my goings on have not been worthy of writing about. Taxes, broken sprinklers, dirty laundry, anniversaries of loved ones dying, work deadlines, and the like have been the gist of these past weeks. And after a certain family member who has been warning her children that Auntie Julie’s social media activeness is somehow taboo, I am a little at a loss for words.
Seriously! I could understand if I was expletive-excessive in my postings, with nothing but beer and drugs as my Instagram photos. Then, I could see her point. But I simply don’t understand how having a lot of FB friends or posting more than once day (occasionally several times) collectively across the various social mediums somehow makes me off-limits. I mean, really, is it a bad thing to have “too many friends”? REALLY, now. That makes no sense to me at all.
I know that I have been a bit down on social media and it’s seemly negative effect on the wonderful world of blogging but…
Like anything in life, given a little selectivity and moderation, most things have their place. For me, these mediums are forms of communication — virtual, yes, but communication nonetheless. They are tools for sharing the joys in life with others, cheering for other’s success, and offering compassion and support to those in need. To me, that is what life is all about (in real life AND virtually too).
