I felt like a princess walking down the red carpet walkway to the back of the exquisite dining hall of the Ahwahnee hotel. The hall had high ceilings lit by numerous chandeliers. On each table a single tall candle was lit. A pianist’s beautiful music spread throughout the hall. It was lovely.
We were seated at a table in the far corner — me, my sweet man, and YaYa — where I could take in the beauty of the hall and, most of all, my company.
When I glanced at the menu, I couldn’t help but eye the prices. It’s ingrained in me and he knows it. Trying to reassure me, he told me to not look at the prices. He said that I deserved to be spoiled. I wanted to cry when I heard him say those words for every day with him feels like I’m being spoiled. His warmth and consideration are beyond words.
I don’t need fancy dinners on my birthday or any other day; I need love and appreciation. Lucky for me, I have both. I am so blessed. And tonight, I also had an amazing dinner to kick off our trip to Yosemite and celebrate my birthday.
