I understand that it is generally a good idea to stay on course while out running – meaning stay on the sidewalk. But, what do you do when there is a truck parked on the sidewalk? What if the street that you are running on a very busy street and the bike lane is pretty much nonexistent?
You attempt to go around by running on the lush, green, grass…twist your ankle and fall down. *wince*
At least the grass was soft.

Well, I have emailed the Napa Marathon race officials to ask for my race entry to be deferred. They do it on a case by case basis. I realize that my twisted ankle alone is not the best excuse, but it is the leg that has been giving me trouble since before the Chicago Marathon. It doesn’t hurt to ask. Right?
Karin says
Oh dear! I generally try to keep to the grass, but I know the dangers that lie in not seeing a bump in the grass. (I think I just prefer the softness of the grass)
Hope that ankle gets better soon!

Grrr. I hate people that park on the side walks…
Juls says
Me too but it was a PG&E truck. They had their trap-door open as well.
KatieFeldmom says
Oh no!!! Hope that your ankle gets better soon.
Mo says
Julie, they let me defer in 2005 and were so nice about it. And bonus, I got a really, really low number for 2006! GOOD LUCK! Mo
