While vacationing at a ritzy hotel, I encountered an hotel employee who would give me a hard time on ever encounter. I was infuriated. Then enters my best friend.

He’s tall with eyes like the clear blue sky and an ability to make people feel 100% good or bad (depending upon how you treat him.) I was sure he’d give the guy his ugly side after I told him about the last verbal crushing I’d recieved.

My friend helped me to pick my digity and confidence up off the floor and them went over to talk to the guy. Before I know it, they’re laughing up a storm like the best of friends. The guy is smiling instead of grumbling and my friend is walking back to me.

giving up

The season of lent is upon us. This year’s event will take me through to year 3 of widowhood. My view changes daily but currently I see how blessed I am to have life, love, and a roof over my head. I have much to be thankful for.

Although I have not lived the most spiritual and pure life, I do believe that I have been striving towards that general direction. Perhaps I don’t take away everything that our priests have given out in their weekly message, but I do take away something. And I’ve done well to take that little something and make it meaningful for me and those around me. It’s a step. [Read more…]

love happens

OMG!  I started watching this movie and got HOOKED.  Of course, not everyone will see this movie in the way that I do.  To me, the title speaks more to the love that is lost (rather than what the trailer might lead you to believe). It also has sort of a shit happens paradigm too.

I actually like that the movie is presented as a love story but that it is more about grief than anything else.  I might not have downloaded it tonight had I known the real storyline.

The movie does a good job of illustrating the stuckness that can and does occur on one’s journey. Even more, it does a fantastic job of portraying how good some are at pretending to have healed.

With this ring

Recently, I have wondered if my wedding ring has been sending the message that I am Off Limits.  A year ago, when I moved it to my right hand, I figured that I was making it clear that I was single.  However, I have since noticed that there are a large population of married folks who wear their wedding bands on their right hands.

Lil Sis suggested that I place my ring on a necklace and wear it around my neck.  I tried it on for size but my trial lasted all of 12 hours.  The little circle looked so insignificant hanging sideways and I worried that it might somehow break free and be lost forever.  Sometimes, it feels like I have so little left; I can’t afford to lose this too.

margarita memories

Do you know how the chunks of strawberry and ice can sometimes clog the straw of your margarita? Those same chunks transported me back to a night out with Tom and kids…

We were eating Mexican (my favorite): chips & salsa, and margaritas. I began giggling as I fought for the last sips of this delicious drink. Tom chuckled as BoBo became suspicious.

“What’s so funny?” he asked.Margarita

“It’s nothing,” I insisted — then giggled as I resumed my task.

“Daaad, Tell me why she is laughing!”

“She just enjoying her drink.” he said.

A little annoyed at the possibility that his straight-laced mom was having alcohol, BoBo then asked, “Is Mom drunk?”

“No. She’s just acting like you act when your strawberry gets stuck in your smoothie straw.”

Sighing with relief. “Oh”
