Taken from my iPhone, this is the morning sky just after my feet his the floor. I think it’s a pretty peaceful way to greet the day.
Late Night – Early Morning
Once again, YaYa was assigned more homework that he could handle. Last night, as I was fighting back the wave of unconsciousness, he was still downstairs hard at work. Only, he was not making much headway. Boys his age are not meant to still be doing homework past 10 pm.
Unfortunately, YaYa’s schoolwork is really picking up this year. And although my upbringing tells me that he is not handling the load of school his extracurricular schedule, I know that private high schools and (in the future) colleges want only the well-rounded students. Single-minded, scholarly-focused applicants need not apply.
Reluctantly, YaYa went to bed at 10:30 pm — only after I promised that I would get him up at 5 am. Seriously! I can’t even get him out of bed at 7 am; getting the boy up at 5 am was going to be a feat in and of itself. Furthermore, I did NOT want to be waking up at 5 am.

Wino Maker
You may remember that a while back, my department began a team building exercise of making wine. Or maybe we are simply making winos out of ourselves. Anyhow, we’ve sorted, pressed, percolated, completed blending trials, and FINALLY… the fruits of our labor are ready to bottle up and take home!

Of course, I’m thrilled. Does it show?
Pretty Cool in Pink!

Each year, our football & cheer league sponsors a breast cancer awareness day. For the girls, it’s not a big deal to wear pink. For the boys, however, it could be a really big deal. If any of them have ever complained about it, I’m unaware. Here, the boys march down to take the field wearing pink socks, pink shoe laces, and pink mouth guards. What a way to toughen them up, eh?
