I woke up for an early morning run. Met up with my friend Mark, and took on the challenging assent that led us to rewarding views like this.
After I finished thawing out from the 2 1/2 hour run, I showered and then crashed on my bed for a 2 hour nap. The run was an invigorating and encouraging.
I’d actually been questioning whether or not I even wanted to race in Napa. The only reason that Napa is even on my race calendar, is because they were nice enough to defer my entry from 2008. Honestly, there has been so many emotions and doubts (on all topics) running through my head lately. It’s so hard to tell what is lack of want, and what is simply self doubt. I’d hate to bypass it all only to create more damage to my self esteem.
Between last week’s run and this one, I now feel like I am at least capable enough to run another marathon in March. By the way, there were no cute butts motivating me on this run (unlike last week) — just good company. Besides, I led the way today. Now, all I have to do is stick to the training schedule that Coach has set up for me, from now until then.
I am encouraged by runs like today’s, where my body and mind both are enjoying the journey. If this is any indication that my running can once again be fantastic then I say “go for it.”

You can do anything that you put your mind to and it will build your confidence as you go.
