I took the long way to buy my lunch today. Walking along the railroad tracks — the same tracks I used to run along back in the day — are these poppies. The way the midday sunlight shines down on them makes me smile.

Although I didn’t attend the Ash Wednesday Mass, I decided I wanted to give up something anyway. This year, I gave up my daily ritual of buying an almond milk latte with added ghee from the yoga studio after my morning practices.
I did not give up coffee all together. I still have coffee. In fact, I still have almond milk lattes (without added ghee, that I make myself).
I’m not a bad barista, if I do say so myself. Just look at the smile on theMAN (aka Larry)’s face. It seems to say delicious.

BoBo is taking a music class for his general education at the local community college. Attending a concert such as the one we attended on Saturday night was part of the curriculum. It’s not something that he would normally attend and, quite honestly, not something that I would have either. But I jumped at the idea of attending with him.
The event was held at the nearby mission. It was a lovely night for the symphony and bonding with my firstborn. And the performance was delightful. Have a Listen.
Ronin will be 9 years old tomorrow. NINE!
I remember when we first got this guy. It was at the lowest-low of my grief journey. I rescued a HUGE 10 month old flatcoat retriever: a 100 lb puppy.
Being a puppy, he did puppy things such as dig up my yard and chew up things (like my favorite sundress). Meanwhile, the boy who I’d hoped would be home more was still running around town getting into mischief.
Fortunately, he is now a fantastic and lovable dog. These days, his worst shenanigans is his ear infections.
My mom is scheduled to have a hip replacement this coming Monday. Having had numerous prior surgical procedures (including spinal fusions, knee and ankle replacements, and foot reconstruction), Mom is no stranger to the Operating Room. Still, she is nervous as heck. I can’t say that I blame her. There is always a level of risk to such procedures. I’m nervous, and I’m not the one having the procedure.
