Over the past many years, one might say that I have been on a anti-valentine’s day campaign. While it is true that I feel the holiday is overly commercialized with a tendency to create expectation for giving in much the same way as Christmas — all in the name of love.
Truth be told, I love being the recipient of sweet nothings. And I don’t need much more than a thoughtful token of appreciation. I mean, even this little week if presented with kind words that make it meaningful would be lovely.
In that same token, I enjoy giving a gift that has the potential for deeper meaning than a bouquet of flowers. This Valentine’s Day, I gave theMAN a calendar filled with photos of his liking. Included were photos of the two of us, one of his parents, a couple of his kids, my boys, and a couple photos of the fun places he has traveled to for fabulous adventures (with and without me).
Since I believe that love shouldn’t just be expressed on Valentine’s Day but rather year round, I liked the idea that he might continue to enjoy the calendar for the full 12 months that it spans.
Yes, it’s the thought that counts and, my hope is that theMAN will know that I am thinking loving thoughts of him year-round.
