My company is one of the few non-Apple buildings on our street. The entire street from 7-eleven to 7-eleven is Apple building after Apple building — each with a different color.
Back in the day (when I ran regularly), I used to comment often about how their employees never used to return my greetings. I’d say “hello” and they would simply look the other way. It was as if saying “hello” back would somehow leak company secrets.
I have no idea if it is true, but I have heard that the employees are sworn to secrecy even among others in the company. At lunch, they all head over to the main cafe, careful to keep to their own flavor so as not to mix knowledge bases. Of course, this would translate to NO TALKING TO THE COMMON [non-Apple] FOLKS.
I suppose it makes sense. Heaven forbid if the Pink Lady’s secret to their crispness was discovered by the Pippins or, worse yet, the local nectarines. *GASP*
We are situated by the Orange building. According to one website I read, “the color orange relates to social communication, stimulating two way communication. A warm and inviting color, it is both physically and mentally stimulating, so it gets people thinking and talking!” Yes, talking! Go figure. I suppose that is why the gal who let me see her Apple watch (after it was released), willingly did so. The pretty white band on her small wrist had me ordering mine just minutes after she showed it to me.
Outside the orange building there are these lovely Bird of Paradise bushes all in a row. One wonders if the orange color and physical beauty of these flowers inspires physical and mental stimulation in the employees. In someways, it inspires this in me when I go past during my lunchtime walks. I am happy that this is one company secret that is wide out in the open for all to benefit from.
*By the way, I love my Apple Watch!
