Prayer flags are inscribed with a series of auspicious symbols, prayers, invocations, and mantras. These flags can be seen all over Dharamsala and the surrounding countryside. For many centuries, prayer flags have been placed outside of homes and places of spiritual practice, so that the wind to carry the positive energy across the land. They are said to bring happiness, long life and prosperity are said to be brought to the flag planter and those in the vicinity.
Balancing the elements of earth, water, fire, air, and space, the flags bring are beneficial in bringing balance to the environment. This in turn brings balance internally, bringing health to the body and to the mind.
Originally, I thought I would hang these prayer flags on the back deck. However, after hanging them in my office space, purely to let the wrinkles and rolls fall away, I immediately felt a sweet serene aura fall upon the room. This feeling, I need as efforts toward refinancing the house, and gaining acceptance into high schools of choice, are ramping up. The possibility that these lovelies could promote peace, compassion, strength, and wisdom is enough for me. I like the look and feel of them whether they are working their magic or simply looking pretty hanging in the office space adjoining my room.
