If when you find a penny and pick it up all the day you have good luck, then what do you get if you find a hundred dollars and pick it up? And what if you were the one who lost it? These are facetious questions — unless of course you did find (or lose) $100. Then?
I pondered on this after finding a cute periwinkle sweatshirt in just my size. I wondered how long it had been sitting there, or if the owner would ever return for it. Then I thought about the many treasured items which I have lost such as my grandmother’s opal ring. Are these things still hiding out where they were lost just waiting for me to return for them or have they been picked up by some very lucky person?
Who knows? But in the event that the owner of this sweatshirt is saddened by their separation, I will not be the one to stand between her finding it.
