BoBo has officially been sworn in to the Air Force – finally. BoBo has been waiting months for this. He’s so jazzed. He called me to share the details of the process. It’s quite involved. I had no idea.
The enthusiasm in BoBo’s voice was wonderful to hear. I’ll admit, I do have moments of being petrified for his safety. What parent wouldn’t? We’re at war after all. I am immensely proud of him for marching forth so-to-speak and taking charge of his life again.
Being in charge, however, is somewhat of an illusion – at least now that he has signed on the dotted line. You see, unlike in civilian life where job negotiations happen BEFORE you sign, BoBo has agreed to 4 years of service without knowing what his job will be. He has provided the top 20 jobs that he’d like to do. Yet Military Police, as far as I am aware, is the ONLY job he is really interested in.
Once again are waiting, only this time, it is to find out his job and his ship date.
Oh, if only I were independently wealthy – or at least financially secure enough to take the summer off from work. I want to spend as much time with him as possible. I want to create memories so extraordinary that they’ll take us through the next 4 years.
Taken from my Bucket List, a few the things I have in mind include:
- Visiting the Grand Canyon
- Hiking Half Dome
- A day of flying trapeze

A day of flying trapeze? Congratulations to the both of you, he’s found his way.

If you can get reservations on the North Rim of the canyon, it’s much less crowded and (I think) more beautiful. People typically drive from Las Vegas. From Phoenix/Flagstaff, it’s always the South Rim.

Good for BoBo! The military has a way of clarifying the direction of one’s life, whether that’s a life of service or doing something else. Wish him the best of luck.
