I’m not really the bumper-sticker or window decal type. However when Mark gave me this window decal after both of us completed the Santa Barbara Marathon, I made an exception.
I think it was his way of saying thanks for encouraging him, pushing him, prodding him (sometimes to a fault) to attempt running a marathon. I’m honored to have been a part of helping him join the ranks of marathoning for it is truly awesome.
After he finished, I asked him if he cried. He smiled at me in the way that says How did you know? I nodded, smiled back at him, and said “I did too.”
There’s nothing like your first marathon finish.
I am registered for Santa Barbara for this year! My daughter wanted to train for and run a marathon and I said I’d do it with her and that’s the one she picked. I hope it’s great!
