See no evil

I remember when Tom and I first saw the sunken tub in the master bathroom of our new home. The golden facet and handles sparkled. I imagined romance and candles in my future.

Now, I look to one corner to find Batman and Robin in a tangled mess. In the other corner of the tub is an army tank and a police car. The bad guys are no where to be seen. I wonder if they won or lost the most recent battle with the evil bathtub villains.

Evil villains are like that; they are in-your-face scary one moment and virtually invisible the next. A superhero must always be ready to fight. Even if you see no evil, it doesn’t mean that it isn’t there. You must be sure before you can let your guard down.

So we wait , Batman, Robin and I, for the evil villains to show their face. If and when they do, we *will* attack. Until then, I’ll just relax and enjoy a little peace.

I’m awake…really…*yawn*

Well it feels good to not be so darn tired. *yawn* I mean it’s 9 pm and I am still upright and somewhat functional. *yawn* Somewhat.

Yesterday, I fell asleep on the coach immediately after returning from In ‘N Out Burger. It was only 7 pm but I was beyond unconscious. I couldn’t help myself. Tonight is better.

My Harry Potter book awaits my attention but I just can’t seem to muster the energy to pick it up. You know what I mean, right? It is a BIG book. *yawn* I did read some of your blogs though.

What’s more, I also managed to go out to the track after work. But that wasn’t wonderful either. I warmed up and then began my laps around the track. My legs were heavy and would not move in spite of my willing them to do so.

Somehow, I talked myself out of quitting. But my 3 mile intervals were downsized (into 2 mile intervals). Sorry Coach. *sheepish grin, yawn* I cooled down on the way to YaYa’s daycare, and then we walked 1 mile to our home.

Waiting

My 3:30 pm interview is the last thing on my mind. Still, I have pulled up the company website to study up on the their pipeline. They have some exciting technologies in development. I can almost let myself get excited. As I familiarize myself with their products, my mind wanders. I just can’t seem to stay focused.

Instead, I focus on the time. I watch as the minutes, and hours, tick away. I am waiting for a different call.

Armed with a phone number for the radiology department, I set out to repair an error made in my mammogram scheduling. The appointment should have been scheduled at the same facility as the biopsy appointment. It should have included an ultrasound. Instead, I had my boobs squished and was left to worry the weekend away about whether the film-based views would be available to the treating physician. My goal of moving up my biopsy appointment was now hindered by the fact that my ultrasound appointment is not until later this week. To complicate things, I have discovered that the ultrasound cannot be done without the mammogram films.

In the attempts to move up the ultrasound appointment, I’ve volunteered to pick them up myself and take them to my appointment. The only problem is that I can’t find out if the radiologist is done with them yet. As of several hours ago, there as an appointment for ultrasound tomorrow. Unfortunately, I cannot get booked into that appointment spot until the guy at the other radiology department verifies that I can pick up my films today.

So I wait. Impatiently, I might add.

Exhausted

It had been quite a few days since my last run. Today was the first run since I received my new medicine for my blood pressure and the first since my worries over the breast lump began. It wasn’t easy to fit it into my day and the run was generally difficult.

For starters, I had YaYa with me. We hit the bike store shortly after they opened to pick up his bike. The day was already heating up. With limited time, we applied sunscreen, filled our camelbaks and were on our way. I felt fatigued right from the start.

YaYa stopped at the first par course station. He was slow to catch up with me afterwards. I slowed down so that he could get ahead of me for the hill. Sometimes I can give him a push the last few feet so that he doesn’t have to get off and walk. He charged the hill and was doing well. I kept my pace and let him take the hill on his own. He stopped short but I am sure that he could have made it. We sipped our Gatorade Endurance prior to continuing on. We had only traveled 1 mile.

Whether YaYa was ahead of me or behind me, I just could not relax. He stopped often and I could see that he was not having any more fun than I was. Just after the 3 mile mark, I gave up and told him that we were heading back to the start. It would only be 6 miles but it just wasn’t working.

I sat on the grass and watched YaYa play on the playground. One of his classmates was at the same park so he was having a great time. I felt all alone there watching them play. I reached for my cell phone and called my favorite sister-in-law.

Getting Stoned

Getting stoned, can only be one of two things:

– The smell that infiltrates the arena at concerts.

– The scene in The Life of Brian (or another one of those movies) where the town’s folk are lined up with rocks in their hands ready to pummel someone for their sins.

It’s neither of those in my case.

I got an email from my boss today. She doesn’t read my blog (at least I don’t think that she does), but she knows a little of what I’ve been going through. Her email would have fit in well with the comments that many of you have posted.
