Last night, I left the yoga studio tired and sore. It would seem that a week of weigh lifting, running, and daily yoga was catching up with me. The class was kick-butt awesome, as it always is when Nikki is teaching.
As long as I got out of bed on time, I’d be able to hit her morning class as well. Attending is something that only happens when YaYa is on holiday or home sick (as is currently the case). If I did get myself up, I’d start my work day off with balance and strength — hopefully able to carry through the rest of the day. In addition, I’d be home earlier than usual.
It was a big IF.
When morning came, I rose from my bed stiff and sore all over. I stumbled downstairs to make my cup of coffee — weighing the benefits of yoga class against those of staying in bed for another hour. My decision to skip morning yoga was made by the time I returned to my bed with my coffee.
I sent out a tweet, declaring my defeat: “Oh dear! I think all this yoga, weight work, and running has finally caught up to me. #morningyogacancelled”
But then something happened. It was as if the universe rallied and offered up a whole lot of encouragement. Soon, I was scrambling to dress for class, gather my clothes for work, and get out door in time for class.
I also grabbed my new SIGG yoga-inspired water bottle — compliments of my winning a random drawing which I entered on Nikki’s blog. I couldn’t wait to show her the beautiful turquoise colored bottle with it’s elephants and other yogic symbols.
Minutes later, I was getting down [dog] with my fellow yogis in a room so hot it made my bed like a refrigerator in comparison. And I LOVE the heat — so I was exceedingly happy to have made it there.
As for class, Nikki delivered her usual butt-kickingly awesome series of sun salutations, chair pose, warrior 1 and 2, vinyasa, crow, and everything else. Through it all, she joked about being a “meanie” — which of course is what we all love about her (that she isn’t).
After class, I stayed back to show her the goods. We took the photo of us together with the bottle. Then, Nikki suggested that I do a yoga pose holding the bottle. I know it sounds like something I would do on my own but, I swear, she suggested it.
