It’s another beautiful day. Raise your arms overhead and reach towards the heavens. Salute the glorious sun above. And give thanks.
acts of kindness
If you asked to be kind all of the time for 30 days, could you do it? A short while after being posed this question, I found myself failing to find the kindest response to YaYa. Honestly, I cannot remember what it was that he was resisting me on. I can only remember that my tone immediately fell to annoyance and, after hearing the chosen words leave my mouth, I immediately though about how unkind they sounded. *sigh* The point isn’t perfection. The point lies more in the effort.
just me giving thanks
It’s hard to believe that it’s nearly Thanksgiving. I am happy to report that my initial fall-funk seems to have passed. Of course, the change of the clock helps tremendously. I hate rising into darkness. Since falling back, I’ve been waking up with the sun starting its climb. It is certainly a wonderful way to start the day. Of course coffee is an essential part of any good day.
I am also finding that my daily photo posts have played a part in maintaining my good mood. The process of search and find interesting, pretty, or cool items to photograph each day is therapeutic. It has a way of changing focus and taking note of the interesting, pretty, and cool aspects of your life. You should try it for a period of time and see if you agree.
Of course there is exercise and good people. There is no substitute for family and good friends. The Man, my friends IRL, and YOU (my dear bloggies) have been invaluable. As we approach the Thanksgiving holiday, I just want to say thanks for all of your comments (also known as support). It truly is greatly appreciated.
11.11.11 (also known as Veterans Day)
The majority of the day has passed and, for once, I have yet to update my Facebook status. Today being Veterans Day and all, I want to write a message of gratitude for all those who willingly put their lives on the line in the name of freedom — OUR FREEDOM. But I am at a loss for words.
The day, I believe, is to honor those who have gone to war for this country. However my gratitude also goes out to those who have willingly volunteered to go to war — whether called upon to go or not. Maybe I am missing the point. I don’t know.
I scan the FB home feed and am sad to see that 11.11.11 has taken precedence over Veterans Day in everyone’s thoughts. My dear friends, I think, this is wrong. But who am I to judge right and wrong when I have not posted a thing all day? Admittedly, the whole numbers thing is kind of cool. How can I forget how I got all nostalgic about qualifying for the Boston Marathon on 10/10/10?
It’s time let go of judgement and post a status of my own.
Tibetan singing bowl
A few years ago, in YaYa’s therapy session, we were introduced to miniature version of this Tibetan singing bowl. Dr. Games (as we refer to him) gently ignited it’s song as he guided my son in a breathing exercise and helped him work through his fear of dying.
It worked it’s magic, or rather, YaYa did with the assistance of sound and breath. As I remember, it worked a bit of magic in me as well.
I will forever be drawn to the healing sound of these bowls.
