This photo, taken when he was in Paris, was snapped by YaYa. If you can’t tell, it’s the Eiffel Tower from the bottom (looking up).

“Fuck Yeah”

I took many pictures during this two day event but the sign in this picture absolutely says it all. There were so many great performers at the 10th Anniversary Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival that it was really difficult to choose who to see an any given moment.
We got to see the following:
- Hot Electric Tuna
- The Songwriter Circle with Steve Earle, Robert Earl Keen, John Joe & David Olney
- Richard Thompson
- Jackie Greene (pictured above – on piano)
- James McMurtry
- Indigo Girls
- Dave Alvin & The Guilty Women
- Doc Watson & David Holt
- Yonder Mountain String Band (though hard to hear)
- Patti Smith.
Carnival

Admittedly, I was kind of dreading the coming of the weekend. It wasn’t because there was anything planned that I didn’t want to do. On the contrary, I wanted to do everything but just wasn’t sure how I’d make it all happen. And then…
I managed to extend Friday’s lunch break and completed my 9 mile long run. Yes, I ran — without pain. So by the time the carnival rolled around on Friday night, I was happy to spend a few hours taking peoples money in the ticket booth. In fact, I had a lot of fun doing it as we had a nice view of the band and the crowd was fabulous. I even had margaritas delivered to me as I worked.
If that wasn’t enough, Lil Sis offered to watch YaYa after his football game which freed me up to take in a bluegrass festival.
leaves are a fallin’

People say that there is only one season here in California. Although we don’t get the extremes, each season brings a little bit of something new. A quick look around the local park reveals the falling of leaves. Believe it or not, it’s fall — even though it is hot as the dickens, thanks to a bout of Indian Summer.
