The Big Sur International Marathon (BSIM) course is no walk in the park. It’s TOUGH and demands a whole lot of personal strength and determination to get through it. I certainly knew that going in to it. I also knew that this course was breath taking and beyond words. I guess that’s why I’m having such a hard time writing this.
I mean, did you know that Runner’s World has ranked the BSIM in the top 3 marathons to run? Take it from me, it truly is that beautiful.
Tell me readers, does anyone else go through post-marathon depression? Okay, as depression goes, what I experience isn’t debilitating like true depression. The let down usually hits after the hype from marathon completion settles down. This is when I am left feeling empty and goal-less. But it’s more than that…
…after a glorious weekend of music, good food, sightseeing, marathoning, and sweet nothings. I wish it didn’t have to end.
I also wish that there weren’t so many steps between the parking garage and my desk.
I guess you’re wondering what happened to Juls. Well, I’ll tell you. She ran a marathon and is really tired. Believe it or not, she’s actually too tired to blog. But don’t worry…she’ll be back soon.
You should know that she’s pretty pleased with herself right now because she ran hard but also took in the scenary. Shortly after crossing the finish in 4:24:21, she was already thinking about her next marathon. It looks like it will be CIM in December of this year. I think this is where she will qualify for the Boston Marathon.
Anyway, I think her medal looks pretty cool on me. Do you agree?
I wonder how long until she asks for it back.
The sun is shining, a cool breeze is blowing, and it’s a beautiful day in Monterey. After taking in the expo, I was left to do nothing but sit pretty and wait. Race day will be here before I know it. In fact, the busses leave at 4:15 am!
