During yesterday’s conference, YaYa told his teacher about his somewhat forgotten blog. We were discussing the prevalence of his dad’s death in his school work. YaYa’s teacher was impressed at his willingness to express the loss and encouraged him to continue to use writing as a tool.
That night, YaYa and I revisited his blog. Together, we read through the old posts and grieved the loss of the good old days. We laughed and we cried. After that, we gave his blog a facelift and published a few posts describing events that he wanted to share and remember. I encourage you to click over, read, and offer him some encouragement to keep writing. Some day, when he is reading back through, he may thank you for emboldening him to do so.
