I’m sitting at my desk, chomping on some delicious homemade pasta that my colleague and friend brought to work for me. Unlike many of the food items I’ve eaten this week, I can get this down without issue. In truth, my intentions for a low-pressure, fun marathon have been pushed aside by my deep down desire to compete. I know that I intended to simply run the race, but that isn’t the Juls you know and love is it — and I *know* that you do love me.
The change in plans has left my body tossing and turning at night, and my stomach tossing and turning during the day. Fortunately, I’ve only actually thrown up once and that was before my breakfast so it’s all good.
Here is what is really on my mind (my tiered set of goals):
§ Worse possible race outcome that I will find acceptable = finish.
§ Real goal = finish around 4 hours.
§ Even better goal = beat 4 hours.
§ All-time high: if the stars all align (kiss or no kiss) = Boston Qualify
So show me the love and come to my rescue. What I need from you (and the gods) is a bit of good karma, well wishes, prayers, star alignment, good weather….

Ha, that’s what we like – fun is OK but competing is the best part of all. Now go on out and run like an Antelope!

Go, Juls, Go! You will have an awesome day and a great race, and you will have us behind you sending positive energy, and YaYa cheering for you, and Tom watching you the whole way.
And you’ll get bling at the end!
