myPod is filled of a vast array of songs. From classic rock, country and hip-hop to Disney favorites. My most recent addition brought tears to my eyes when BoBo first played it for me on the way to dropping him at school. He hooked his iPod up to my car stereo and “Go The Distance”, a song from the Disney Movie Hercules, began to play. And I began to cry.
I couldn’t help it. The song was beautiful. But it was more than that. I imagined hearing it play on myPod while waiting for my marathon to start. My marathon that is still so far away that I don’t have a date for it. But it will happen, and when it does I will be inspired.
Go the Distance
I have often dreamed
Of a far-off place
Where a great warm welcome
Will be waiting for me
Where the crowds will cheer
When they see my face
And a voice keeps saying
This is where I’m meant to be
I will find my way
I can go the distance
I’ll be there someday
If I can be strong
I know ev’ry mile
Will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere
to feel like I belong
I am on my way
I can go the distance
I don’t care how far
Somehow I’ll be strong
I know ev’ry mile
Will be worth my while
I would go most anywhere
to find where I belong
I have dreamed it, I have worked for it. I will be strong again, and I WILL go the distance because Boston is where I belong.
