We did some carbo-loading with a batch of lasagne that I had ready for my pre-Nike preparations. *sigh* Little did I know that Nike would be the event that it is turning out to be.
After dinner, we drove to the mall for a movie and more carbs (in the form of popcorn and candy). My pre-race nutrition has never taken this form before. YaYa and I were quite the sight going through the mall. My limp was a bit more exaggerated this evening and with YaYa in his cast we made an interesting couple.
I figured that a little Mother & Son time was in order since I will be leaving for the city tomorrow. I won’t be returning home until Sunday afternoon. I always miss my boys when I am away. YaYa and I watched Open Season which seemed so fitting as the lady in the show has to set her bear free in the woods for the first time. I won’t give the rest of the story away.
The movie was cute and my date was a gentleman. He asked for a hug when we got near the car (where nobody could see – because not being seen hugging your Mom is as important for an 8 year old as it is for a grown bear). YaYa gives the best hugs – bear hugs. I am going miss him while I am staying in the city.
In addition to the “expotique” (Nike’s race “expo” with a new name), I am looking forward to meeting up with, none other than, the 21st Century Mom. I will be staying with my sister, Linda, and her best running gals. It should be good fun. I am hoping that my foot will allow me, to take in about 13.1 miles of the best sights, in a nice leisurely stroll through San Francisco. If I am successful, I will have a nice necklace to show off.

We can do this! You with your gimpy foot and me with my clogged sinuses. What a pair! I’m looking forward to it.

How’d you do?! I’m sure you ran well, gimpy foot and all. Oh, what does the necklace look like? Inquiring minds want to know.
