I’ve been diligent.
I’ve been submersing my foot and ankle in ice cold water *so* many times a day. I keep the water in a cooler so that it stays cold and then just add ice as needed. I have been doing my ankle strengthening exercises 3-4 times each day. I have carefully watched each repetition to be sure that I keep doing them correctly. I have taken my ibuprofen three times each day without fail. Finally, I have rested.
But although I don’t feel pain during the day, my ankle/foot just didn’t pass the test.
I put on my running shorts, and a t-shirt. I didn’t bother changing my bra as I wasn’t going to do much. I figured a mile on the track ought to be enough to test things out. I donned my new running shoes with metatarsal pads in place. My hair went up into the, previously frequent, ponytail and I drove to the high school.
BoBo’s practice was just ending. I told him to meet me at the van when he was done changing. I figured I could do 4 laps in that time even if I was walking.
With Garminia, myPod, and Old School at home, I began a slow job. I got about 1/2 way around the track and things just felt tight. I stopped to stretch, walked a bit and then picked it up again. After completing the lap, I knew that it wasn’t time to jog. I walked a lap without issue. So walking is okay but jogging just isn’t happening. I’ve been diligent in my care, but it doesn’t seem to have made a bit of difference.

I tried to run yesterday and had the 3 hardest miles of my life. My lungs are congested and I am out of running practice. Apparently doing stairs in the Inca ruins is not substitute. If we have to walk it, we walk it…. beats a longer term injury, non?

Sorry everything has been so frustrating lately…do hang in there. You will look back and be glad you didn’t give up. I’m amazed how many times I’ve had to start “again!”
