I thought either my change to Direct TV was the reason for not finding Boston Marathon coverage OR that I was just an idiot. As it turns out, neither is the case. There was only live TV coverage for those in the Boston area. I’m appalled. Why do those who live in the Boston area need TV coverage when they can just walk outside and see the race?
Although BAA posted tweets regarding the race, I could not quell my disappointment. I can’t tell you how I look forward to this each and every year. Much like the Tour de France (TdF) is for cyclists, the Boston Marathon is HUGE for marathoners. But you can bet that OLN/Verses will have live coverage for the TdF. *sigh* [end rant]
Fortunately, destiny would be on my side. After posting a tweet of protest, I received a notification of a new follower. I checked out their tweets, as I always do, to be sure that they weren’t some freak case or SPAM artist. That was when I discovered their tweet regarding LIVE Boston Coverage on their site — for FREE!
I clicked over, carried my laptop to the bathroom and started getting ready for the day. The laptop got carried room to room as I continued to get ready.
I was quite bummed at the point where I had to leave in order to get YaYa to school I time but somewhat comforted that at least I got to see some of the race. I paused the live stream and hoped that I could resume watching when I returned home. I knew it was unlikely.
A short while later, I found myself unable to resist checking in on the race from my cubicle at work. My timing was beyond perfect. The women’s race was coming to a finish and the men’s was not far behind.
I was glued to the computer, clenching my fists, silently screaming “Go, Go, GO!” Both finishes were AWESOME! The women’s race was seriously close and the men’s ended with a record breaking finish.
I am now hovering on the ceiling with excitement. Big Sur is in less than a week and I am so PSYCHED!
