Taken at Go Fish, a cute little outdoor eatery just outside of Granview Island, this photo is the perfect representation of our vacation pace. We were either hanging out with our feet up just taking it in or seeing the sights while running, hiking, cycling, or other. Whatever the mode, it was always relaxed and easy.
Stawamus Chief Mountain Hike
Isn’t this incredible? This view is the reward following a couple thousand feet of climbing through lots and lots of green.
With many stair step ascents, ladders, and chains to help pull yourself up, it was the most challenging and beautiful hike I’ve ever done. If the incredible green foliage wasn’t enough, Olesen Creek could be heard (if not seen) nearly the entire way.
Vancouver, BC: Taking It In
We hit Vancouver on foot bright and early in the morning thanks to the sun rising in the wee hours. The days seem to last forever here — which is great because I want this vacation to last forever.
I’m already awed with the beautiful and varied architecture. My camera is going crazy trying to take it all in.
This picture is of the public library which was just a few blocks down from where we are staying.
New Arrival
In Color
Dropping off YaYa at Camp K is always a memorable experience. Each year I try to capture the essence of this day on camera but simply cannot. I guess it’s just one of those you-had-to-be-there things.
When I finally pulled myself away, the first song on the radio said it all: Jayme Johnson’s “In Color.” I began reflecting on life’s critical events: marriage, children being born, first days of [school, camp, summer, etc], sporting events, family members dying..,and the aftermath of that.
I cried the whole way to work.
