How is it that another year has passed us by? Okay, okay. Maybe I am exaggerating. It hasn’t “passed us by”; it has just plowed through and dragged us along for the ride. That’s how it seems, some days.
In October, I started to write a post after attending the funeral of my younger cousin’s husband. Our uncle was the priest, just as he was for Tom’s funeral mass 15+ years ago. Although this service was far more elaborate, the similarities had a way of doing me in emotionally. In the months that followed, my cousin’s FB posts expressed the deep pain in a palpable manner which, although more concise, were akin to my grief blogging of year’s past. This post was still in my draft blog posts when I logged in today.
This past year, I started working on improving my health in a different way. I enlisted the help of a physician for hormone balancing, biomarker improvement, heavy metal detoxification, and gutt healing. And although from the outside, I am certain that nobody can note a bit of difference as the weight I gained in the past 5ish years has not come off, I do feel much more energetic and vibrant. It is my intention, to continue on this path and utilize the benefits to bring my running game back up to a quicker, happier pace.
The Yosemite Half Marathon is still on the books for May of this year. I am running a bit more regularly, lifting weights, and supplementing my cardiovascular endurance with peloton powerzone training rides. Although I wasn’t sure I’d like it, I tried my friend’s peloton bike over the summer while watering her plants and found I actually loved it. I love the flexibility of being about to jump on for a 30-45 minute ride during my workday, or anytime after. I love the sweat and the challenge. And I love that I don’t have to worry about being hit by a car, getting a flat tire, or being left in the dust by those riding with me.
I honestly don’t know what new will come in 2023. Time will tell. And, if 2023 is anything like this past year, I’ll be writing about it a short time from now.
HNY!
