Since BoBo goes to school right near my work, we have been able to get together for lunch about once a week. Today, we met just shy of noon at the Thai restaurant and enjoyed a delicious meal. He shared the news that DD would be flying in from New York, spending a couple of days in Los Angeles and then driving down to the Bay Area on Saturday.
The wheels immediately began turning in my head for how to rework my schedule to insure that I didn’t miss his visit. In early December, DD stopped by our house on his way [driving across the country] to live New York. As per his usual modus operandi, he did not let us know ahead of time that he was coming by. However, he was at our house for a couple of hours. I desperately tried to leave the office early but was corralled in my cubicle by my colleagues for a last minute discussion. DD left our house 3-5 minutes before I got home.
After our nice little lunch, BoBo and I parted ways. I made a quick phone call before returning to work and, was soon winding my way out of the parking lot when my eyes fell upon two strikingly handsome men.
I couldn’t help but look right at them. They smiled at me and waved their arms wildly. Then one came running over to my car with his arms stretching wide as if to give me an embrace. Unable to control myself, I parked my car and ran to their side for hugs and kisses…
from not one but two of my 3 sons: DD and BoBo!
DD just happened to stop for a double-shot of espresso on his drive from Northern California to Southern California. Although it seems unlikely that he would happen to stop at the coffee shop near BoBo’s school and my work at the same time we were meeting in the same strip-mall for lunch — it isn’t. This also happens to be where DD spent his high school years.
It just so happens that BoBo’s quiz was cancelled ~ so he is now accompanying his older brother to SoCal for a couple of days. And I am back to work.
