With YaYa’s birthday falling the day before the start of a new school year things were a little more hectic this morning despite a weeklong effort to get organized.
Of all the things that could have slowed us up, getting dressed was the last thing that I thought would cause issues. Having the same uniform requirements for the last 3 years generally takes the struggle out of getting dressed in the morning. The only decisions to be made are red or blue shirt, shorts or long pants.
Since I had YaYa go through every bit of clothing in his closet, try everything on, and set all his school wear into one area in his walk-in closet, I was certain that this would go smoothly. Apparently, I overlooked one thing…
The Belt!
Not having a belt is only an issue if wearing a belt is part of the uniform requirements. Lucky for us, BoBo left behind his collection of nice belts – each, in all likelihood, worn only once. I selected the shortest of the collection and took it to the garage to add another hole. Then we took the annual First Day of School photo and were off with backpack, padlock and shelf for the locker, and a rather large bag of in-class school supplies. Breakfast, of course, was in hand.
*sigh*
Some things never change.
