In case injury wasn’t enough of a hurdle to jump, my marathon training came to a screeching halt with a nasty respiratory bug. Coming off of a right-on speed workout this illness was just more proof that life happens — to me.
I’ve been slowed but have not been stopped completely. Apparently, all of these years of chasing Boston is good for something.
How did Coach put it? Oh yeah, he said “Gumby it.” In other words, be flexible. So…that’s what I’m doing.
I skipped most of the runs this week, I also cut my long run in half. Then tried to make up for a bit of it with an hour long jaunt on my bicycle fully equipped with a near empty roll of toilet paper in my back pocket.
Neither of these workouts were anything to write home about…but when did that ever stop me from writing about it.
Anyway, I’m a coughing and sucking wind but I’m blowing my way threw this and expect to be back on track in no time.
