I’m sitting by the river, enjoying the sounds of kids laughing. The sun is hot and the water freezing. Of course, no camping trip would be complete without being eaten alive by mosquitos. The mosquitos managed that on the first night — ‘cuz they think that I am SO SWEET…blooded. They even managed to bite the roof of my mouth THREE TIMES! Sweet, I tell you: simply sweet.
This trip comes at a good time. My level of stress has been building as summer has worn on and our routine has shifted to uncontrolled chaos. It’s no wonder that I have a piles upon piles of dirty laundry waiting for me at home.
Also, there are many changes coming down the pike. The uncertainty of work wears heavy on me. I wish I could know that it would work out but I have no certainty in that. My 30-45 minute commute is hard enough to fit into my day. Generally, I work through lunch so that I don’t feel guilty about having to leave ahead of everyone else — so that I can get my son on time. Of course, that doesn’t allow for lunchtime running. Does it? So, it’s no wonder that I am stressed about having my desk move an additional 20-30 minutes farther away from home.
And, speaking of running, I’ve contacted Jeff to reinitiate a training schedule for me. Not only do I not have time to run but, when I do, I’m just not motivated to take advantage of it. You see, I took so much time off of running that it’s now HARD to run…and HARD is NOT FUN.
But fun or not, I have goals — BIG GOALS like qualifying for Boston!
This sweet blooded, stressed out gal with the growing commute is going to run and run and run until running becomes… uh… faster (if not easier). And when it does become easier, it is certain that Coach will up the ante so that it is once again HARD… and I will LOVE it.
