The entire family piled into the car after dinner. We drove to the local football field for BoBo to practice throwing the football to his Dad. While YaYa and I did our best to throw the “pee-wee” football back and forth to each other, Tom and BoBo tested BoBo’s arm.
After BoBo’s arm was warmed up, he and Tom began running plays. BoBo can be as hard as the best of coaches. He would send Tom back to the line, refusing to throw the ball, if Tom left early. He was working his Dad hard and, by the looks of it, was having a good time for himself.
Before long, Tom needed to take a break from the action. He refereed the foot races between BoBo and yours truly. The first race was from the goal line to the 50 yard line and back. At 20 seconds, I wasn’t beaten too badly. I figured that I would do better in a longer race; however this first one really took a lot out of me….not to mention my Yasso 800s earlier in the day.
BoBo and I raced from goal line to goal line and back. He finished a bit more than 5 yards ahead of me but I wasn’t too disappointed with my 39 second finish. Then Tom got the grand idea of all. He ushered us to the track for an 800. He was smiling and, in my opinion, enjoying this whole thing a bit too much. YaYa joined in for the race.
The race began with BoBo pulling ahead quickly and YaYa not far behind. I was in last place but held my own and figured that BoBo was going out too fast to hold the pace. I was right. By the end of the first curve, I was closing in. Then just before the second curve, I was on his heals. He knew I was there and was obviously spent. Hee hee. I passed him as he gave in the towel and quit. I was also exhausted. I declared victory and ended it with only 400 run in 1 minute, 41 seconds.
The family fun was just beginning.
