My work has been consuming my lunch breaks lately so it was good to get away from it all even if it was for less than an hour. I had plenty to do however my mind was wandering and my body was restless. I grabbed my running gear and was soon outside stretching.
The run wasn’t a focused run like yesterday’s. I let my mind wander as I listened to my music. I thought about work, about not working, about potential opportunities and how that would impact my life (family life, commute, running, and who knows how else). My mind wandered as my body went through the motions.
It was a windy day; I could hear the wind blowing loudly over my music. I fought it in some parts of the run. The wind blew hard and made my hair slap in my face. The dirt and rocks crunched under my feet and the high weeds brushed my arms and legs as I ran past. My skin began to itch all over within a few minutes. I didn’t care though. In just a matter of minutes of leaving the office, I felt like I was far away from it all. In my mind, I was.

My school schedule has been the consuming factor in my life lately and my running in the morning has been the one way for me to loosen my mind up and stay focused. It’s a wonderful outlet to have there for you whenever you need it.

Rob is right on target as usual. I think it would be great to squeeze a run in on the lunch hour. It would sure break up the day. Take care.
