I missed the window to run this morning by sleeping in. Immediately upon waking, at 8:30 a.m., it was time to run the boys around to their games. Tom was out of town so even though BoBo is warming up from 9 to 10, YaYa is with me until I dropped him off at 10:45 a.m. for an 11:30 a.m. game.
Today YaYa got to play on the ?big? field, so it was a pretty special experience for him. The Majors Field is our Little League’s “show case” field with sunken dugouts, and the big LL banner. They had a great time and I video taped a couple of innings. Over at the Juniors Field, the game was moving fast. BoBo?s team took it with a 4:1 win in 1 hour and 45 minutes time.
Missing the window for morning running meant running in warmer weather for me when I finally managed to get my run in. I accidentally hit stop on my Forerunner 205 (GPS watch) sometime in the run and didn’t notice for some unknown distance. I ran somewhere between 7 and 8 miles. I went from really glad to be out running to thinking I’d taken it too fast. I was feeling my legs a bit more than I wanted. It wasn’t exactly the “marathon pace” that Hal had called for; that might have been why my legs were feeling it. The fast pace was just happening and I kept trying to slow up. At the same time I just wanted to get the run done.
Afterward the run, I took the kids to the pool. We swam and played in the pool that I grew up in. The last time that I was at that pool was with my step-dad (a year ago – before he died). The memories came rushing back. Good memories, but it made me sad just the same. Then I swam some laps. My swimming sure has gotten rusty since last summer when I was playing around with some triathlons. I did 1/2 mile (36 laps).
