Unless you’ve had a loved one deployed overseas, I don’t think you have any idea what to expect. Two weeks into the process, I still don’t have even the slightest idea of how it all works. Even information as seemly simple as where do I mail BoBo’s letters has yet to be revealed.
My only blessing is that he is in contact with someone — even if it’s NOT me. At least this way I can get confirmation that he did arrive safely to Location X. I can even hint (not so subtlety) that I’d like nothing more for Mother’s Day than a handwritten letter from my first-born son. Hopefully, he’ll get the message.
